This paper and associated workshop is an ambitious project to provide background information on Student Management System (SMS) solutions that are sold in Australia. It covers the strengths and weaknesses of each solution, qualitative and quantitative feedback from a strong sample of active users of various SMS systems and conclusions were drawn from the pattern of customers’ experience, feedback and contentment. The report also documented past successes and failures in the Australian SMS sector and analysed emerging market trends in technology and user expectations.
This is a significant project for S1 as the company now positions itself as a key advisor for SMS suppliers wanting reliable, objective information that confirms or refutes basic assumptions they may have had. Educational Institutions can now use S1's subject matter expertise to help identify key issues that could result in success or failure.
