S1 Consulting & Software Services Pty Ltd (S1), Asia Pacific’s Distributor for Nuventive and a leading provider of products and consulting services to the education sector, today announced that Massey University, New Zealand have purchased and implemented iWebfolio. The implementation of this innovative electronic portfolio solution is within the College of Education.
iWebfolio is an advanced electronic portfolio management system that is designed to help all
individuals, whether they are students, faculty, staff or professionals, prepare, manage, reflect, share
and present the results of their academic career, co-curricular, personal and professional experiences.
iWebfolio puts the individual at the centre of the solution, while helping organisations that need to
acquire and present evidence of continuous improvement toward institutionally defined learning and
performance outcomes. iWebfolio has been implemented in over 50 institutes in North America,
United Kingdom and Asia Pacific.
“Leading educational institutions like Massey University are focused on improving the quality of the
education their students receive while also providing students with new skills to prepare them for their
future careers“, said Martin Halmarick, Senior Partner of S1. “We are very pleased to support the
continuous improvement vision of the University.”
Massey University is piloting iWebfolio for students undertaking the Graduate Diploma of Teaching
(Primary). The pilot will involve both staff members and students over a 12 month period. Each
student will create from a template designed by Massey University staff an ePortfolio that will be
progressively populated with evidence, statements, reflections, assignments, self analysis a range of
other miscellaneous items that correlate with the course content and student development. Massey
University staff will provide ongoing feedback in regards to the content of the ePortfolio to students
which will assist in the overall development of both the student and staff member. At the conclusion
of the year long course the students will have a centralised environment where they can store and
maintain their course evidence/artefacts and display this information in a cohesive ePortfolio which
has the ability of capturing reflective comments at the time of the respective course milestones.
“Massey University believes that electronic portfolio solutions will play an important role in helping
students create, manage and present evidence of their development to peers, faculty and potential
employers”, said Dr. Bill Anderson, Senior Lecturer Massey University. We also anticipate that
iWebfolio will facilitate new ways for students to collaborate and interact with faculty and that this will
have a positive impact on the overall quality of the educational experience that we provide.”
Students will also have the option of creating ‘career’ ePortfolios toward the end of the year that could
be used as a tool to assist in gaining employment. These ePortfolios would be sent to prospective
employers as a way of conveying their professional, educational, social, etc experience.
S1 has provided consulting and support services to Massey University to implement iWebfolio and
ensure the project has a strong footing in Project Management principles.
“Educational institutions around the world recognize the value of iWebfolio in helping to prepare the
next generation of highly qualified educators”, said Dr. David Raney, Nuventive CEO and co-founder.
“We are very pleased that Massey University has chosen iWebfolio and our partner S1 as a part of
their strategy in the College of Education. We look forward to working with S1 and the University to
provide outstanding products, services and technology to support these educational objectives.”
