Tony’s specialties include:

• carbon accounting, reporting and investment systems development and application
• forest advisory services including feasibility, inventory, modelling, marketing, policy development, and management services contracts
• agribusiness enterprise development focused on production efficiency and sustainability
• financial analysis and solutions development in the agribusiness and forestry sectors
• negotiation and implementation of land management and access agreements
• feasibility assessments for agricultural and forestry investment proposals

Prior to joining S1 Consulting Tony worked at Director level with Structured Investment Solutions and Associate Director with Rothschild Australia on the design and implementation of financial solutions to corporate and production efficiency issues in the forestry and agribusiness sectors. He was responsible for agronomic activities including:

• undertaking due diligence and feasibility assessment on property purchases and other capital investment
• researching and reconfiguring farming systems for increased production, improved sustainability and energy/labour efficiency
• management of farm purchases, access, budgets, on-farm production and improvement activities
• feasibility analysis of potential investment for alternative agricultural activities

Tony was also responsible for external agribusiness and resource consulting activities, including economic assessment of forestry investments and assets, and investigation and design of options for use of water from coal seam gas production (including new commercial and non-commercial planting projects for alternative production, carbon sequestration, vegetation offsets and biodiversity enhancements).

Tony has extensive senior level experience in carbon management strategy and the preparation of carbon accounts. He has led the development and implementation of international standard systems and techniques for carbon accounting and trading, the use of land based solutions for carbon farming, and the role of forest management in developing countries in generating carbon offsets (including issues of accreditation, risk management, market expectations and long term obligations). Tony has also led investigations of new market opportunities for agribusiness around the current and potential role of biomass in meeting future electricity and fuel demands.

Through these roles and his formative roles within forestry management and the forest products industry, Tony is very effective at the creation and generation of economic returns and new revenue streams from the management of resources and under-utilised assets. He is adept at communication of complex problems and proposed solutions, the negotiation and delivery of land management, access and service contracts, and the achievement of more sustainably-based management within the resources sector.

Tony holds a PhD in Operations Research from the University of Washington and a University Medal and Honours degree in Forestry from the Australian National University. He is a former Board Member of the Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Accounting and a member of Bioenergy Australia.
