THE state government has been warned against making TAFE compete with lower-cost private providers for public funding because of concerns this approach has downgraded skills training and increased course fees in other states.
Critics of the move to make government funding for skills training more competitive say it has undermined the TAFE system in Victoria and threatens to do the same in NSW.
